Splendid Church Life, G.L. |
|
I'm so happy in this lovely place, In the garden growing in His grace. There is no finer pleasure than to eat the living tree Than to get the living water into me. Hymns, #1237 I was raised going to meetings in the local church. When my parents received the Lord as their Savior, we started going to the local church meetings. This was when I was in the third grade. My family traveled a lot because of the nature of my father's work. I have lived in Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, and presently the United States. The chorus in the hymn above was really a reflection of my childhood, teenage years, and young adulthood. It is definitely meeting with the church that keeps me growing and going. The brothers and sisters in the Lord, whom I have never met before, rendered my family the best hospitality (Acts 28:7) and care which left an indelible impression on me. I really love the church life; it is just like a big family. The love of God, the grace of Christ, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit is truly among us (2 Corinthians 13:14). Under the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, I have come to love the Lord, the church, and the word of God. God's original intention in creating man was that man would eat Him (John 6:57), drink Him, and enjoy Him. This is why God put man in front of the tree of life (Genesis 2:7), which is a symbol of Christ, so man can take Christ to be his life and life supply. It is by meeting with the local church that I am eating, drinking, and enjoying Christ. I am so thankful to the Lord for these two faithful brothers who opened the Bible to me in such a clear way. May the Lord Jesus keep me always in His church to eat and drink of Him in His Word. |
